So Do You Ride a Suzuki Dirt Bike?
We thought we would put up Suzuki dirt bike page to give a little history about Suzuki as well as give our visitors a place to show off there rides.
So Here You Go!
Suzuki hasn’t always been Suzuki Motor Corporation. Michio Suzuki founded the Suzuki Loom Company in 1909 in the village of Hamamatsu, Japan. For the first 30 years Suzuki built these highly complex machines to weave silk. Although the Loom business was highly successful, Suzuki realized he should diversify and look at other products. Consumer demand moved them into small car production in 1937, with several compact prototypes completed within two years. But World War II halted the car manufacturing when the government declared passenger cars a "non-essential commodity." Suzuki went back to its roots, the silk loom, but it as well was short lived because the cotton market collapsed 1951.
Faced with a huge challenge, Suzuki went back to motor vehicles because the Japanese had a great need for affordable personal transportation after the war. With many companies offering a “clip-on style engine” in 1952 for a standard bicycle Suzuki took it a step further. They built the “Power Free” which was a motorcycle but it could also be pedaled like a standard bicycle. So are you riding a “Silky Machine”?
